ACM MobiHoc 2009 S3 Workshop
Objective
The "ACM Mobihoc S^3 Workshop 2009" offers graduate students around the world a unique opportunity to present, discuss, and exchange ideas on research in systems, theory, and systems-theory cross cutting aspects of wireless networks. Organized by a student-run TPC, the workshop features invited talks by students, student panel session, fast paced and fun-filled elevator pitch session on research presentations, and insightful overview from distinguished representatives from academia and industry.
The workshop aims at fostering early-career development among students, offer exposure into the workings of an academic life, encourage student leadership and participation in research community, and offer unique networking opportunities.
This workshop will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009, co-located with ACM MobiHoc 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Structure
The workshop will feature invited talks by students on separate sessions on systems and theory of wireless networks.
In addition, the workshop features student panel discussions on current trends in cross-cutting aspects of systems and theory
of wireless networks. An elevator-pitch session provides students a unique opportunity to practice and learn the art of communicating
research work. The workshop will conclude with overview presentations from distinguished academia and industry representatives.
Prizes will be awarded for participation across the workshop sessions.
Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
- Operating system and middleware support for mobile computing and networking
- Architectures, protocols, and algorithms in wireless networks
- Fundamental understanding of mobile computing and wireless networking
- Wireless and mobile techniques for delay tolerant, mobile ad hoc, and wireless sensor networks
- Security and privacy of mobile and wireless systems
- Modeling, measurement and simulation of mobile networks
- Experimental test-beds for mobile/wireless networks
We encourage all graduate students to participate in the workshop.
